Getting there

January weather can make travel challenging, so plan ahead!

Flights

The cruise embarks from Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Saturday, January 7, 2023. We recommend getting there a day early to make sure you have enough time! We plan to fly into Fort Lauderdale on Friday, January 6 and to spend the night in a hotel before boarding the following morning.

Stays

We’ve reserved a block of rooms at the Hyatt Place Fort Lauderdale Cruise Port hotel for the night of Friday, January 6. The hotel is close to the port, shops, and restaurants, and it offers a shuttle to the port for $9. Using the button below will automatically assign our group number to your booking.

🏳️‍🌈
Wedding Day

We’re really excited to share our wedding day with you. Curious about what the day will look like?

Ceremony

Our wedding ceremony will take place on Apex’s beautiful Rooftop Garden during our first day at sea (Monday, January 9). The ceremony will take place between 11am - 3pm (more details within the coming months). A one-hour photoshoot will immediately follow the ceremony, so be ready to strike a pose!

Happy Hour

We welcome everyone to join us from 5pm – 6pm (ish) for drinks and snacks at one of the ship’s bars. We’ll have spent a few days aboard, so we should have a good idea about which spots on the ship are the most fun!

Reception

At 6pm, we will be treating all of our guests to dinner at one of Apex’s specialty restaurants, Fine Cut Steakhouse. We are asking anyone who would not like to attend the reception dinner to please let us know no later than October 1, 2022. We understand this is your vacation too, and do not want anyone to feel pressured to attend...but we certainly would love the chance to sit down with our closest friends and family.

🧳
Packing Essentials

Knowing what to pack for a cruise is almost as challenging as planning what you’re going to eat on a cruise! We’re here to help.

For the first day…

For the first day of your cruise, pack a small carry-on bag with your travel documents, a change of clothes, bathing suit, workout clothes, and any medications you may need. That way you don't have to wait for your checked bags to arrive in your stateroom.

Onboard attire

Shorts, t-shirts, slacks, trousers, casual skirts, blouses, and sundresses are all perfect during the day, whether indoors or out. For lounging by the pool, pack two bathing suits (an extra suit in case the other is wet) and a pair of casual shoes (e.g., flip-flops, sandals, sneakers). You'll also need some casual shorts and a couple of t-shirts or a cover-up for getting to and from the pool areas.

Dinner attire

Meals in the main dining room will include four smart casual nights (sport shirts and slacks for men; skirt, pants or jeans with a casual top for women). Our cruise will also feature two “Evening Chic” nights. For women, that means a cocktail dress; or a skirt, pants, or designer jeans with an elegant top. For men, it means pants or designer jeans with a dress shirt, button-down shirt, or sweater. Read more

Wedding Attire

We’re sensitive to the amount of time it can take to pick a wedding outfit, so we’re offering a broad color palette to make your shopping easier. We kindly ask that the folks participating in our ceremony wear blues, grays, blacks, or neutrals (see image). Everyone else: feel free to wear the same colors, or wear whatever you’re most comfortable in!

Packing Recommendations

Passports

It’s recommended that everyone taking a cruise from the United States have a passport. If you don't already have one, they can take up to 14 weeks to receive, so plan ahead!

Seasickness medication

If you think you might experience motion sickness on a cruise, it’s best to be prepared. Don’t panic if you forget to pack motion sickness medication. At the guest relations desk onboard, you’ll find tablets that will help combat seasickness.

Reef-safe sunscreen

Sunscreen pollution is a real phenomenon and it poses a threat to coral reefs and aquatic life. It’s also a major factor in decreased water quality. Many reef-safe sunscreens are available at major retailers and on Amazon.

Bug spray

If you’re sensitive to mosquito or bug bites, we recommend bring a travel sized container of bug spray for days onshore or during excursions.

🎁
Wait, no gifts?

We have everything we could possibly need, so we’ve chosen not to create a traditional wedding registry. We invite the folks who feel especially inclined to provide gifts to instead donate to some of our favorite charities below. These organizations are extremely important to us, and your contribution would be better than any physical gift!

Healthy Reefs Now

The Ocean Cleanup
Work towards a future where plastic no longer pollutes our oceans.

Every year, millions of tons of plastic enter the oceans, primarily from rivers. And the plastic that’s afloat within the oceans isn’t going away by itself. The Ocean Cleanup’s aim is to have removed 90% of floating ocean plastic by 2040.
